GUTTENBERG, Iowa - Tyco Electronics is moving ahead with a plan to close its plant in Guttenberg, putting more, than 100 people out of work.

The company announced last year that it would close its plants in the eastern Iowa towns of Guttenberg and Sabula, moving the work to China.

The Sabula plant, which employed 103 people, shut down last year. But the Guttenberg plant continued to operate.

Company officials said the plant will close in three stages beginning Dec. 22 with 20 workers. Another 37 will leave on Jan. 23, with the last 53 working until the end of February.

A company spokesman said employees will receive a severance package based on their job and seniority.
