Romance is a drama called everything from "sexiest movie" to "pornography". With graphic depictions of all manners of sexual behavior it walks the fragile line between art and exploitation. What makes it a great story instead of a series of sex scenes, is its emotional approach. The graphic nudity then becomes not exploitation, but attention to detail. The long takes without cuts lend it a realtime feel capturing the actors' every beat. Caroline Ducey gives a brave performance as Marie, the frustrated teacher, who tries to rediscover sex within a stifling relationship. It's to her credit, that her character's heart says much more, than her oft-displayed body. The movie's strength lies in its close, intimate examination of matters of the heart.

Room in Rome

Room in Rome is a controversial, boundary-breaking film about two women, who bare their bodies and their souls during one memorable night in a hotel in Rome. Writer-director Julio Medem returns with this provocative tale of Alba and Natasha. Two strangers meet, tentatively flirt and then head to Alba's hotel room, where they exchange life stories amidst passionate bouts of love-making. The stunning actresses Elena Anaya (from Pedro Almodovar's Talk to Her, Sex & Lucia) and Natasha Yarovenko (from Diary of a Nymphomaniac) unflinchingly expose their deepest desires: the two women grow increasingly honest emotionally, the closer they get physically. Many Russian, Spanish and some Italian dialogs with English subtitles.
